ICEGOV-2017

ICEGOV stands for International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance. Established 12 years ago, the conference runs annually and is coordinated by the United Nations University Operating Unit on Policy-Driven Electronic Governance (UNU-EGOV). Part of the United Nations University and based in the city of Guimarães, north of Portugal, UNU-EGOV is a think tank dedicated to Electronic Governance; a core centre of research, advisory services and training; a bridge between research and public policies; an innovation enhancer; a solid partner within the UN system and its Member States with a particular focus on sustainable development, social inclusion and active citizenship.

ICEGOV 2017

The Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India, in collaboration with United Nations University and UNESCO, was organizing a three-day International Conference 10th ICEGOV 2017 in Delhi from 7th March to Thursday, 9th March, 2017. Themed on Building Knowledge Societies: From Digital Government to Digital Empowerment, the ICEGOV 2017 was inaugurated by Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, Hon’ble Union Minister of Electronics & Information Technology and Law & Justice in the presence of Ms. Maria Manuel Leitao Marques, Minister of Presidency and Administrative Modernization, Portugal, Shri P. P. Chaudhary, Hon’ble MoS, Electronics & Information Technology and Law & Justice, Mr. P. K. Sinha, Cabinet Secretary, and Ms Aruna Sundararajan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology.

The key objective of ICEGOV2017 was to explore how Digital Government can lead to Digital Empowerment by local knowledge. It was a recognition of India’s emerging role as a massive cyber power, accelerated by the Digital India push which has acquired international acknowledgment. Digital Governance was the future of Good Governance, in sync with the Honourable Prime Minister’s vision to transform India into a transparent and digitally empowered country.
